Perfect Storm - EdgeCast CDN Outage and Link from Drudge
Date: Nov 09, 2011
Talk about bad timing. Edgecast, the CDN we use at Heritage for our main site and blog, suffered a massive worldwide outage early this morning. At the same time, we got linked from Drudge, which causes a traffic spike 20 times our normal volume. The reason we have a CDN is to handle traffic spikes that occur one or two times a year. You have to be amazed by the rarity of these events happening at the same time.
Update: Fortunately EdgeCast fixed the issue Wednesday morning and Drudge kept the link active most of the day.
